Jim Thome, Hall of Famer? Masher appears to be back,could still reach 600 bombs

Jim Thome averaged 40 HR and 110 RBI, and over .400 OBP for the 10 years prior to his injury riddled 2005 season.

At age 35 he 'could' still hit 160 HRs, which would easily put him in I think.

What a pickup for the WS Champs. :toast:

More on Thome, who has also been a relatively quiet HR force...His numbers are more impressive than Mark McGwire all around....but the casual fan would not realize it, at all.

Thome is a great player and a great guy. He'd easily hit over 50 this year if he was still in Philly. He was putting up 40+ in the Vet.

Its a shame the Phils had RyHow sitting right under him and both don't have the flexibility to play any other position. I would've loved Thome and RyHow in the same lineup.

Thome has 17 , he was well on his way til going to Philly...he could still very easily pass Bernie.

Mantle hit all 18 in World Series play....there was no ALCS back then

The RF wall is closer at Citizens Bank park compared to US Cell Field. By 4-5 feet. Though maybe with those crazy Chitown winds that carry the ball (does that happen at US Cell too? or only Wrigley? Its more HR friendly. But Philly is as HR friendly as you can get. Pop flys become dingers in that place.

Like Roach23 said....all Philly fans wished they could have had Thome and Howard in the same line-up. There was a small chance that Thome could have played third but it didn't come to be. What a line-up the Phillies would have had, similar to the Yanks.
